What Are Error Correction Memory Codes?

!±8± What Are Error Correction Memory Codes?

Error correcting memory codes or we can say error checking and correction memory codes are those codes which allow data being read and transmitted to be tested for errors. It is different from parity checking and controlling because in this errors are not only assessed but also corrected after detection. When data rate increases such error correcting memory codes are specifically designed in the form of data storage and transmitting hardware.

Following is the manner in which error correction memory works:

• When any data unit or any unit is stored in memory RAM or in peripheral storage then calculation is made of the code which describes the sequence of the bit in the word or unit. After this it is stored in the particular unit of data. For every 64 bits unit, an additional amount of 7 bits is needed for storage of this code.
• When a request is made to the unit for reading it, calculation is repeated by using the constant algorithm for the code in the storage and the about to read unit. The code which is generated newly is then compared with the initial code as generated in first step.
• In the next step we analyze as to whether the new code matches the old one or not. If it successfully matches then the code is free of errors.
• If new code does not match the old one then the bits which are missing are detected through comparison of code and the bits supplied for the purpose of correction.
• The data which is in storage is not touched for any correction. It is overlaid by the data generated eventually and with assumption of having errors as transient the bits which are incorrect will fade away.
• But even if the error repeats by turning off the computer again and again then it definitely indicates a permanent nature of error in the hardware of the system because error cannot recur at constant places of storage. In such cases message is communicated to the log or to the administrator of the system in which indication is given regarding the location of recurrent errors.
• Error correction memory codes are required in addition at levels of 64 bits and parity checking also requires the same but in reality correction memory code has the advantage of increasing the computation reliability and that of telecommunication system or a part of it without incurring high costs.

What Can an A3 Printer Scanner Do?

!±8± What Can an A3 Printer Scanner Do?

If you're a technological savvy, then you will not even think twice about what this equipment can do. However, for the benefit of the technologically challenged, we will focus on what this machine can basically do. An A3 printer and scanner is basically a multifunctional device that allows you to print and scan. However, like most multifunctional gadgets, they have additional features that come along with it. Some of them may be wireless connectivity or facsimile capability.

So let's start with the most basic function of an A3 printer scanner. A printer and scanner for A3 can print documents to a maximum of A3 sizes. If you're not familiar with this size, an A3 size has dimensions of 17" x 11". Most printers are capable of printing up to Legal sizes, which measures 14" x 11". Do not be misled though. A3 printers can print on A3 sizes as well as smaller sizes. So if you're worried that you are only able to print on A3 sizes, there is no need to worry. Most A3 printers are capable of printing on smaller sizes such as Letter and Legal sizes. Some even have the option to print on envelopes and other media.

Let's proceed to the next basic function of an A3 printer scanner. This equipment is able to scan documents at 17" x 11" sizes. Most scanners work by using computer software that comes along with it. Assuming that the software is running, the document is faced down on the flatbed scanner and is enclosed with a lid. When it starts scanning, it flashes a light along the document. When it's done, the computer pops up a window asking how the image will be saved. Before, scanners automatically generate JPG images on the specified directory. Scanners today have other saving options such as format and directory.

Both scanning and printing functions go hand in hand in such a way that it generates another function, copying. Some printer scanners have the option to print it directly so it can work similar to a photocopier. The great thing about it is that they can also process colored documents. Since what we have been discussing so far is an A3 printer scanner, it is only logical to say that you have the added capability of photocopying A3 size documents.

If the document you are scanning is a portrait type, assuming that you have a very large document that rotating it will exceed in one dimension, then just scan it at any orientation that will allow the document to fit. You can use image-editing software to fix the orientation. Most image editing programs have the capability to rotate, crop or even re-size images.

Now that we've tackled most of what an A3 printer scanner can do, we've basically tackled what most printer scanners can do. These however are only the basic functions. There are some printer scanners that have other special features. Some can be used even without a computer. There are printer scanners where you just pop in a USB flash drive and you can set the scanner to save it directly on the USB flash drive. This is only an example of what the coming models will be.

Connecting Wirelessly

!±8± Connecting Wirelessly

Science has now shown the possibility of demonstrating the very fact of our existence that is "every body is connected through a single power source." I have always been fantasizing the situation in which every single thing at my home and in the office is connected, may it be inside the kitchen or bedroom or living room. Reading the article about ZeroG seems like a dream come true! In technical terms, it is about creating, storing and processing the data via internet. It is about having a network of things around you and interestingly all of them are connected. Isn't that great!

I work in a company that provides embedded solutions. The reason for working here is just that I love to be updated with the on-going technology and I think I am at the right place. My company has recently launched a development board that has the ZeroG module inside and it can do a lot of things.

The ZeroG module is based on 802.11b protocol. This protocol uses two methods of connectivity:

Ad Hoc: where every single device can communicate with the other device in the network on one-to-one basis Access Point based: where there is a single access point through which each device is connected

This is extremely simple to use and cost effective. The most interesting thing about this is that it is a low power device. Hmm.. so what? It has on-chip power management, not processor managed. It is simple from user point of view but complex from inside.

Look and Feel? What about the antenna? It is a wireless device! I would not want antenna popping up from my toaster, oven, fridge, TV and all other my favorite things. This has an on-board antenna. So no compromise on the device shape.

I am really excited to see this module in different products that I have at home and in office. This is going to revolutionize the technology the human way!

Electronic Schematics Diagram - The Four Commonly Asked Questions

!±8± Electronic Schematics Diagram - The Four Commonly Asked Questions

I came across quite a number of questions about electronic circuit schematics diagram.

Most of the question asked are:

a) Do we really need a schematic diagram in order to repair any electronic equipment?

b) Will schematic diagram help us to repair faster?

c) At where we can get a particular schematic diagram?

d) How to read schematic diagram?

Well, the answers is as below:

a)-Theoretically yes, practically not necessary, it all depends on how good you are in electronic repair knowledge. For a beginner it is a 'must' for you to understand about schematic diagram, as you gradually gained more knowledge you will automatically depends less on schematic diagram. You will definitely need a schematic diagram when you come across a new designed or technology. For example, when comes to crt monitor repair i seldom see schematic because i already understood most of the circuitry and section in a crt monitor. The new technology such as lcd or tft monitor makes me have to temporarily relies on schematic diagram. As my knowledge of lcd monitor repair grows, i will gradually depends less on the schematics. May be my situation is different from yours because I'm concentrating only on one type of equipment. I've seen quite a lot of repairers in my country that repair many types of equipment such as tv, video, vcd, dvd, amplifier, hi-fi, fax, laser printer, microwave and so forth. Most probably they need schematic diagram to keep them up to date on each of the equipment technology.

b) If you have a particular schematic diagram for that particular equipment, your troubleshooting time can be reduced to half! Unfortunately many manufacturer do not release their equipment's schematic diagram. If you depends on too much of schematic you will be stuck on how to repair that particular equipment. Why with schematic diagram you can repair any equipment faster? Because a schematic diagram shown you all the part list, waveform, voltages, explanation how that particular equipment work, block diagram, schematic design, component's part number, electrical schematics symbols, substitution, modification (if have) and electronic schematic symbols and etc. Assuming you have a power supply section blown and you could not recognize the component part number, but with schematic you will be able to find the exact part number and finally repaired the equipment.

c) If you work in the equipment's factory or their distributor you will have the schematic diagram for the model that they sell. Any under warranty unit that comes in you will be able to diagnose and repair the equipment fast. This will increase the company's reputation and customers will recommend to their friends about the quick service of that particular brand of equipment. You also can get schematic diagram in the form of a book from local electronic shops. This is usually a compilation of few brands and model of a specific electronic equipment. Tv or television schematics diagram are easily to get but computer monitor schematics and radio amplifier schematics is a little bit harder to find. If you have the budget get one of the book. Third, as most of us already know that you can download free electronic schematics diagram from the internet. Free tv schematics is easily found on the internet. You may also buy it the 'CD' format. This investment will usually pay back in the shortest time.

d) As how to read schematic diagram, I'm unable to show you thru article because you do need a real schematic diagram in order to make you understand. Reading schematic is not that difficult, provided you have some basic electronic knowledge. I have a few suggestions:

-Ask from a friend who is in the repair line

-Take short courses on electronic repair and ask the lecturer

-Buy books from your local bookstore about the subject "how to read schematic diagram"

-Buy schematic diagram and learn on your own (this will take sometimes but worth it)

-Fix some project kit using the electronic kit schematics given. This will add to your knowledge also.

Conclusion-In order to become a successful electronic repairer you must understand how to read schematic diagram.
